Today I had a chance to lay my hands on Alcatels Recently released 806 D. Phone features physical well spaced QWERTY key pad and a touch screen above it. Comfert and ease of use for any finger type makes this phone a great buy. unlike motorola ex 119 which has keys stuck to gether 806 d has well spaced keyboard ideal for sms, mms , surfing , chatting and e-mailing. Os licenced by IBM makes this phone a killer device whth features like one touch e-mail with attachment viewer featuring word excel powerpoint and pdf.
For corpotates it features integrated microsoft exchange support, pop3 , IMAP and powerful organiser with upto 5 people call confrencing Just the way they want. Unified inbox for MMS and SMS with storage capasity of 700 sms's. Powered with MMS v1.2 makes task a whole lot simpler for newbees. In the era where BBM and FB are status symble the phone packs SNS, Facebook, Twitter and multi IM Client. Phone book is revamped with kinetick scroling with massive storage of 1000 entries. phone also features calculator, converter, voice recorder, multi alarm settings , vcard and callander shairing. now u can send group sms to 10 people or pre define sms upto 10 items and reject a call with sms.With quad band reception is fabalus but in basement it might put u a little down. For net access it featres Edge class 12 ,GPRS class 12/ WAP 2.0 and Wi-Fi with opera mini 5.
Biggest speciality of this phone is it can be used as a modem and a web cam (640x480). Also supports audio and video streaming (youtube here we come) with 2 MPX camera and video (640x480) @ 25 fps.
screen size is ideal to watch video's with Video codec support for H.263/MPEG4 makes this my portable video player on the go. Audio quality is awsome , player interface is good and easy to use and supports playback for MP3 AAC/AAC+/WMA and WAV with 3.5 mm jack on top. For radio lovers phone features FM Radio With RDS with easy to use interface reception packs a punch.
Also has : Embedded images and animations, themes, Image editor & slide show ,Main menu scroll matrix, end user customizable with customisable function keys makes it ideal for any cell phone buyer.
How I tested it : 12/23/2011 Got up at 6:00 am and put the phone for charge after unpacking. 9:00 am fully charged and ready to use, 9:05am inserted my sim and micro sd card. 09:07 am turned on and all set to go with vodafone and mtnl displaying on my screen. 09:10am received my first sms for meeting with client at 11:30 am tagged it to my callander app as an appointment. 9:25 am feaded my todo list and left home. 10:38 am reached office and parked my car at the basement of my office 4 bars on vodaphone and 3 bars on mtnl ticking and alive . in the lift 10:40 am received call while going to 11the floor wife wanted some groceries at the end of the day call clearity is awsome. 10:43am out of lift and went to my it team to config exchange client 10:47 am 1st email of the day with 2 presentation attachments had a view and now all set to go foor meeting.. 11:20 am at basement Level 2 of client office phone network still ticking . while parking the car got a call from boss call clearity still rocks with no disturbance.. finished presentation by 1:30 pm and now time for lunch in style.. opened opera and downoaded google maps and used to r\\search a resturant for me i n powai .. volA we got meluha the fern .. great ambience and wonderful food. chated with friends on im and back to work.. evenly spaced keyboard made my browsing and e-mailing experince forget my laptop .. with wifii i remained connected i my office in every nook and corner... back to gprs adtime to leave but speed was great with both voda and mtnl.. this phone rocks .. connected t to my music system with 3.5mm jack and lo and behold audio rocks my music sounded like i was inside it.. played mario aw man battery stil rocks and with music play back of 2 days and emails battery mein 1 bar baki hai.
Design : 09/10 as has no usb coverig.
Screen : 10/10 readable in briggt sunlight.
